What is the IAI?

The Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research is an inter-governamental organization established to promote a better understanding of global change phenomena and their implications in the Americas. Also the institute provides scientific information to policy and decision makers in order to collaborate with the development of appropriate plans and actions for dealing with the effects of global change.

Currently, the institute is supported by 19 countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, United States, Uruguay, and Venezuela). It is dedicated to the principles of scientific excellence, international cooperation, and the full and open exchange of scientific information relevant to global change.

IAI´s mission: "to develop the capacity to understand the integrated impact of past, present and future global changes on regional and continental enviorments in the Americas and to promote collaborative research and informed action at all levels".
