Moira Doyle

Moira Doyle has a Ph. D. in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina. She is currently a researcher at the Centro de Investigaciones del Mar y la Atmósfera (CONICET/UBA) and assistant professor at the Department of Atmospheric and Ocean Sciences of the University of Buenos Aires. Moira has been working trying to understand the effect different physical forcings, such as ENSO, have on precipitation and river flow trends, and how to determine the influence land-use change has had on the availability of water in the La Plata Basin. A part of this area has been affected for the past years with severe droughts, from fall to late spring, and water availability has become an important issue within the communities of the area. The themes of the Training Institute provide new tools which can be used to recommend policies for sustainable use of water resources in this area.
